This track focuses on how you can turn ambition into action. Learn how young women in STEM are navigating, shaping, and accelerating their career progression and how your organisation can actively invest in, develop, and retain early career talent.

Through the workshop, panel session or both you will gain practical insights from young professionals navigating STEM careers today. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of what progression looks like in practice, the barriers that can stand in the way and the actions needed to support development and career growth, by both individuals and organisations.

Future-proofing STEM – supporting Gen Z and beyond: A fireside chat between incoming IET President and a panel of Young Professionals

Join the conversation between young professionals and incoming IET President Sam Hubbard as they share their thoughts and lived experiences of building a career in STEM.

Drawing on their diverse experiences, panel members will share their routes into STEM, the educational and career choices that have shaped their journeys, and the people, opportunities and challenges that have influenced them along the way. Together, they will explore how expectations of work are evolving across generations, what matters most to emerging talent, and how organisations can better enable the next generation of emerging talent.

Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the motivations, aspirations and barriers that shape early-career experiences in STEM, and what influences this.

Attend this practical, experience-led workshop to explore the steps, skills and support that can accelerate early-career progression for women in STEM. In this session you will:

  • Identify practical strategies for skills development, confidence and career momentum
  • Understand the role leaders and organisations play in creating pathways to progression
  •  Discover opportunities and unlock workplace cultures that enable emerging talent to succeed
